About the Workshop
Inter-University Accelerator Centre (IUAC) is the first Inter University Centre in the country that routinely provides accelerated ion to the various universities and institutes of India and abroad. Presently IUAC is equipped with six different Ion accelerators to provide the energized ion beams. Recently, to cater the need of researchers of multidisciplinary research fields extending up to Biology, Materials, Chemistry, Medicine, Security, etc., a compact THz light source facility called as Delhi Light Source (DLS) is at the final stage of commissioning at IUAC. It is expected that soon DLS will start producing THz radiation for user’s experiments. The basic ingredient to produce THz radiation is electron beam which is already being produced routinely at DLS. To acquaint the user community who is already having the expertise to utilize the electron beams for their research either in the fundamental or in the applied fields, a one-day workshop on “Experiments using electron beam facility of IUAC” will be organized at IUAC on 27 Dec. 2023. During the workshop, various experiments with energized electron beams will be discussed with an emphasize on the experiments which will be made possible by using the electron beams available at IUAC. The workshop will consist of talks by eminent experts from India working with the electron beams in the field of material research, atomic and molecular physics, etc. In addition, a few short oral presentations by the young faculties on the proposed experiments which can be done with the electron beam presently available at IUAC will be also scheduled. The workshop is looking for the participants from the vibrant community of graduate students, research workers and scientists/faculty members of different universities/ institutions and R&D laboratories who are working with electron beam and inclined to use this facility for their research work.
