About The Workshop

Inter-University Accelerator Centre (IUAC), New Delhi is a premier national accelerator laboratory established by U.G.C, MoE, Govt. of India. IUAC is holding its first workshop on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to motivate young scientists, engineers, Ph.D students, and accelerator users to delve into the applications of this technology. In the past few years, ML and AI have been applied to many areas of Science and Engineering. The use of this technology in the areas of accelerator science and allied topics remains relatively unexplored. This workshop will provide a general introduction to machine learning and its applications in accelerator control, maintenance, and safety. It will also provide exposure to machine learning applications in physics by combining HPC (High-Performance Computing) and AI to computationally solve complex science and engineering problems.
The speakers of the workshop come from both academia and industry and are forerunners in their domains of ML model applications in their respective fields. The audience is going to be new to the field of AI especially with regards to its applications in the field of accelerator development, maintenance, and research associated with cutting edge areas like anomaly detection and machine protection, virtual instrumentation, diagnostics, tuning, control, and rapid switching between operating conditions, data analysis, image recognition, etc. Due to the large use of sensors and actuators in accelerator research, upcoming technologies like TinyML and IoT(Internet of Things) will also be discussed.
Participation in this workshop will be by invitation for the personnel of various accelerator labs whereas students and faculty members will be selected based on the registration details with the final decision resting with the organizing committee.
